Keeping pace with education standards

A wide range of vocationally related qualifications (VRQs) are accredited into the national qualifications framework (NQF). These cover almost every industry sector, and every level of the NQF. With the support of a number of government bodies such as the Sector Skills Council (SSC) and the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the CIEH has a developed a superior range of safety qualifications suitable for the whole workforce.

The new levels set by the QCA for Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs) are:

LEVEL 1 is aimed at those new to the workplace who require a simple overview of a subject, before starting work or as part of an induction programme.

Examples are school leavers taking their first job

LEVEL 2 is aimed at those in the workplace who participate in activities related to the subject area

Examples are shop floor employees or front line staff employees in any business sector.

LEVEL 3 is aimed at those in the workplace who participate in activities related to the subject area and who also have a related supervisory role

Examples are team leaders, supervisors and junior managers.

LEVEL 4 is aimed at those in the workplace who participate in activities related to the subject area and who also have a related management role or wish to deliver training.

Examples are senior supervisors, departmental managers and operations managers with responsibility for multiple sites.
